OIC APPOINTMENTThe Licence Appeal Tribunal is made up of a Chair, Vice-Chairs and Members. The number of Vice-Chairs and Members varies as appointments expire and new ones are being considered. Except for the Chair of the Tribunal, all Vice-Chairs and Members are appointed on a part-time basis by Order-in-Council. They are drawn from across the province and represent a cross-section of backgrounds and expertise relating to law, industry and consumer interests. The Lieutenant Governor in Council designates the term of appointment. If the term of office of a member of the Tribunal sitting for a hearing expires during the hearing, the member remains a member of the Tribunal for the purposes of completing the hearing. The Chair arranges the sittings of the Tribunal and appoints one member to chair the panel. All hearings are conducted by one member. If a hearing involves an appeal of a suspension of a driver's licence under section 50 of the Highway Traffic Act and the appeal involves the medical condition or fitness to drive of the holder of the licence, the hearing is conducted by a member of the Tribunal who is a legally qualified medical practitioner. To find out who is currently appointed as a Vice-Chair and Member of the Tribunal, please go to the Members' Information page.
